Take Out Kidz

Take Out Kidz is a non-audition dance group that is dedicated to teaching anyone interested in learning how to dance, no matter how experienced they are. They seek to explore different styles and create an open, inclusive environment.

Lion Dance Team

Cal Poly Lion Dance Team has been practicing lion dance since 1957; it is a traditional Chinese dance style using large paper mache lion costumes and is performed to bring luck to the community. As one of the only teams on the central coast, LDT performs at a wide variety of events throughout the year. LDT is open to students with any level of experience, and they hope to continue to share the culture with the central coast for years to come.

Shanwu

ShanWu is an up-and-coming dance group that draws inspiration from Chinese traditional dance and culture. The name ShanWu comes from the Chinese proverb “能歌善舞,” which roughly translates to “multi-talented and versatile.” The dancers of ShanWu seek to explore a unique style that blends a variety of Chinese elements with traditional or modernized choreography. We strive to communicate the essence of Chinese culture through visual storytelling and bring diversity to the dance community at Cal Poly.
