Meet the Fam Heads

  • Darren Wen

    Kinesiology major and Biology minor, 4th year

    Oakland, CA

    I like to do calisthenics, read manga, listen to long podcasts, spending time with my two dogs (great pyrenees and corgi), and rock climb. I also really like to watch medical case studies from a guy named chubbyemu on Youtube. His videos be like "a guy ate 50 pieces of gas station sushi, this is what happened to his brain".

  • Connie Chen

    Architectural Engineering, 3rd Year

    San Francisco, CA

    Hiii!! I’m Connie (she/her) and I’m one of your fam heads for this year. In my free time I like to watch kdrama/anime, cafe hopping, play games and build puzzles/legos. A fun fact about me is that I have a Chihuahua mix at home named Ali :D

  • Amanda Wong

    Industrial Engineering, 3rd Year

    Hi everyone! I'm Amanda (she/her) and I'm super pumped to be one of your fam heads this year. In my free time I enjoy photography, golfing, and keeping my Duolingo streak alive! A fun fact about me is that I've made some awesome deepfakes of people in Yip (consensual ofc) so let me know if you ever wanna see them :p

Hi Everyone! We’re Yip Dynasty! We'd like to say we're a very tight-knit fam with everyone being friends! This year the fam heads are Connie Chen, Amanda Wong, and Darren Wen. We pride ourselves on being active, with our fam heads making sure to put on a lot of fun and engaging events for our members. Our members can always look forward to our Winter Retreat, many game nights, random outings, day trips, parties, and much more! To sum up, we’re a very competitive but inviting fam who loves spending time with each other either playing games together or against each other. Thank you!

Poker Nights

One of Yip’s biggest traditions is holding poker nights throughout the school year. You don’t need to know how to play poker in order to join our fam, however! Most of us actually learned after joining (“learn by losing”). We don’t really play for money, but rather use it as a way to bond and hang out.

Retreats

Over the last few years, Yip has held a Winter Retreat in Bass Lake, CA and Yosemite, CA where we explored the outdoors, cooked, and of course, played poker. It was a great time to bond with our fam through many games and late night conversations. We hope to continue this tradition every year!

Other Events

We've also had our fair share of late night food runs, picnics, adventures, and collabs with the other fams! We're always looking for something to do and we can't wait for the events we have planned this year!

In the end, it's all about what you want to make of your experience in CSA. Yip is one place where you can find your home away from home. We'll do our best to make you feel welcome. We hope to meet you soon.
